Letter To My First Born Son

I have joined a group of photographers who will be writing monthly letters to our children on our blogs.  I am looking forward to reading the other stories as well as taking the time to write to my children.  My first letter is to my oldest child M, although he's not older by much since he's a twin.
Dear M,
I have never written a letter to you before.  I hope this is the first of many many letters that I write to you.  You changed my life eight and a half years ago and I am so grateful.  You were so very tiny when you were born.  Your head barely filled the palm of my hand.  But you were strong and ready to enter the world.  It didn't take you long to start growing and exploring your world.

I have loved watching you grow these past few months.  You still have moments when you are shy.  But I have also witnessed you speak before your peers and shine!  You still have times when you are unsure.  But I have also observed you accept and succeed in the physical challenges of gymnastics and swimming.  You might be embarrassed to know that I get a little weepy when I watch you grow and thrive.  I am just so proud of you.

I like that you come into my room in the morning, even though it is terribly early.  You cuddle up next to me while I write in my journal.  It may be only fifteen minutes, but I get to spend it with you, with your head resting against my elbow and your long body curled around my feet.  I know this time together is short, but I love that you spend these moments with me.

I love you kiddo.
xo Mom

What a lovely letter to your son! I love seeing his baby picture and then seeing a photo of him now with you–definitely a photo to be treasured. 🙂
