50th Wedding Anniversary

All of their children and grandchildren gathered to celebrate Janet and Jerry's golden wedding anniversary.  It was a wonderful celebration and a gift of love and dedication to your daughters, sons-in-law, and your grandchildren.

Congratulations on your 50th wedding anniversary!

Happy 2015 Holidays

Unlike last year, I planned ahead for our beach family portrait this year.  I had my big camera, tripod and my speed light.  Enjoy time with your family and friends this holiday season!

Spontaneous Beach Photo 2014

It was warm, sunny and a perfect fall day to drive out to Lake Michigan.  I only had my point and shoot camera with me and no tripod.  But sometimes when you are limited, cool things happen.  I propped the camera up on a bench, we sat in front of it and got this great family portrait (well after a few tries of me doing the 10 second dash back and forth from the camera!)  So get your camera or cell phone out and take group pictures.  Your family will appreciate it!

Letters to my Children 2013

In 2013, a group of photographers and I wrote monthly letters to our kids.  It was a great way to photograph them throughout the year.  The images of the kids for our holiday card were from one session.  When I tried to get a photo of all of us, nothing seemed to be working.  So we went with what we got!  See you next year!

Year of Selfies 2012

In 2012, I took a self portrait every single day.  Some days I didn't want to take my picture and other days I took the time to create something unique.  One of the best outcomes of the project is that I took so many family portraits that year.

We decided to do something different for our Christmas card this year.  One, Two, Three .... Jump!

2011 Certified Photographer

2011 was a big year for Bauerschmidt Portraits because I became a Certified Professional Photographer! I passed a written exam and submitted 20 photographs for review.  For one of my certification images, I had to create depth.  So I played with the Christmas lights as part of the backdrop.  I used that technique for our Christmas card.

Memories of Christmas 2010

In 2010, M and E are six.  E is two and time is flying by.  And I still love black and white portraits!

Black and White Portraits for Christmas 2009

I have always loved black and white portraits.  Your eyes are drawn to the faces, hands and connections.  I have always loved the Walden's black and white portraits and at one of their workshops, they talked about what would happen if they cut off someone's head in the picture.  Would that work?  Would it be ok?  So I created images of me with M and E, and Paul with E.  The picture focuses on each child, but we are so connected.

Welcome Little E- 2008

As I continue down memory lane, we are now to 2008.  Little E brought such warmth and love into our family.  He was a happy, cubby baby.  M and E were hardly jealous of him since they had each other to play with.  Now we were a family of five!

Last Christmas as a Family of Four

I began taking photography courses at the beginning of 2007 and I started my Bauerschmidt Portraits business that summer.  In the fall, I was scouting a photography location for a client at the Lincoln Park Conservatory, so I took the kids with me.  They were the perfect images for our holiday card.  It was also our last holiday as a family of four, since I was just pregnant with Little E for the 2007 holiday season.
